Sheera is a common breakfast meal, but it can also be eaten as a snack during the day. The best way I can describe it to you is that it is a sweeter, drier version of grits. As someone who isn’t a big fan of grits or oatmeal, I hope you can see this as a possible substitute. One major plus of sheera is that it doesn’t take long at all to cook.

Ingredients:
- Semolina (rava) – 1 cup
- Pure ghee – 1 cup
- Sugar – 1 cup
- Milk – 1 cup
- Water – 1 cup
- Raisins – 1 cup
- Almonds – 1 cup
- Saffron strands – 1/2 grams
- Cardamom powder – 10 grams
Instructions:
- Fry the semolina with the ghee on medium flame in a pan until the mixture turns reddish.
- Boil milk and water and then add to the semolina.
- Stir the mixture continuously; when it solidifies halfway, add sugar and the saffron.
- Place a lid on the pan and let it cook for two to three minutes on low flame.
- Remove the sheera from the pan and add elaichi powder.
- Sprinkle raisins and almonds on the sheera and serve.
